Rahul Gandhi looks for race horses in AP
Hyderabad: Admitting the party’s mistake in fielding candidates who are like ‘horses used in weddings instead of race horses’, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi indicated that party will field only those race horses in the forthcoming elections.
In a customary meet with delegates from the state, who attended the special AICC session in Delhi, Gandhi narrated the ‘horses’ theory and informed the delegates that this time all precautions will be taken while selecting candidates, and only those who have earned the trust of the people and who have worked for the party, will be fielded.
Only three delegates from the state, Obedulla Kotwal, DCC president from Mahbubnagar district, Madasu Gangadharam, PCC vice-president and Mrs Majji Sarada, PCC general secretary were allowed to give their responses, who unanimously said that the Congress should concentrate on giving priority to SC, ST, BC, women and minority sections so that party will stand for its principles besides getting their support in the elections.
Madasu Gangadharam informed Gandhi that one particular ruling community in the state has already joined Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress and that they should not be involved in the Congress. Some delegates belonging to the community objected to the comment.
