Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi Police set for a face-off
New Delhi: The stage is set for a direct confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Delhi police with the party making it clear it will go ahead with its planned dharna outside Union home minister Sushil kumar Shinde’s office if action was not taken against five police officers by Monday morning.
Delhi Police on Sunday registered an FIR against unknown persons following a complaint of harassment by some African women by a group shortly after Law Minister Somnath Bharti accused the foreign nationals of indulging in drugs and prostitution.

The FIR was lodged at Malviya Nagar Police Station following a direction by a city court. Bharti’s name is not mentioned in the FIR.
While the police imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC banning the assembly of five or more persons across the whole of New Delhi district, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the party had decided to go ahead with its dharna if action was not immediately taken against the five police officers.
“It is the responsibility of ministers to raise issues concerning common people,” he said. The ministry said it had asked the police to send a detailed report in the three cases in which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged dereliction of duty by the police.
To prevent the AAP agitation from reaching its doorstep, the ministry ordered tightening of security measures to prevent protesters reaching Raisina Hill, where preparations are on in full swing for the Republic Day celebrations.

In a series of tweets, the Chief Minister accused the police of leaking out the information and questioned "is Delhi police and central govt playing politics with my security".
"Police officials met me in afternoon. Informed me abt threat. Asked me not to disclose it to media. Den dey themselves went and told media. By announcing this, haven't police made me vulnerable. Now anyone can attack and it wud be said that Bhatkal's men did it," he said in his tweets.
The Chief Minister also urged "police to stop playing politics. Rather than giving security to me, let them deploy these men for aam aadmi's security."
"Is Delhi police so foolish or are they playing politics? At whose instance?," he said.
Kejriwal has been declining to take security cover keeping up with his Aam Aadmi Party's policy to end VIP culture in politics.
Bhatkal was arrested from Indo-Nepal border on August 27 last year. Bhatkal, who hails from Bhatkal village in Udupi district of north Karnataka, was allegedly involved in a string of terror attacks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad, the NIA had said.
