GP lets his supporters do the talking on DyCM
Bangalore: Die-hard supporters of KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar met Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and other senior leaders to reiterate their demand that their leader should be appointed deputy chief minister ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
The camp-followers of Dr Parameshwar also sought a fair share of cabinet berths for legislators of north Karnataka. They demanded that central leaders must exert pressure on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not only to fill the remaining three vacancies in the cabinet but also carry out an elaborate exercise of completing appointments of chairpersons of state-run boards and corporation too.
Sources in the party told Deccan Chronicle that all central leaders gave them a patient hearing, but no assurance was forthcoming.
Dr Parameshwar’s supporters reportedly told these leaders: “Apart from backward classes, dalits also constitute major chunk of supporters of the party. So, a senior Dalit leader like Dr Parameshwar should be in the cabinet as the deputy chief minister in order to send across the right message ahead of Lok Sabha elections.”
