Industry is not family property: Pawan Kalyan

Actor pointed out the need for hard work and dedication in the film industry.

At the recent audio launch for the film Rey, Tollywood superstar Pawan Kalyan made a few strong points with regard to the allegations of nepotism within the film industry. “Only those who are talented and hardworking deserve to be here. The film industry doesn’t belong to any family or individual,” he said.
He also pointed out that people who come from ‘film families’ shouldn’t take the industry for granted. “You can’t sustain yourself here just because of a filmy background; it takes hard work and passion for films. It’s not a family heirloom that can be passed on,” Pawan said.

About introducing his sister’s son Sai Dharam Tej, he said, “I didn’t advise him to choose films. He is the one who came to me and said that he wanted to act. I didn’t recommend him for any films, but I sent him to the best teachers to learn the basics of acting.” He added, “I told him that the film industry is not a family affair. If you want to work here, you need dedication.”

Sharing an interesting insight into his own journey as an actor, Pawan went on to reveal, “I didn’t want to get into films, but circumstances led me to acting. I’m not here to promote only my family members because there are so many young actors coming in. New talent must be encouraged, whoever they may be.”

Interestingly, Telugu Desam MP Sujana Chowdary attended the event and was all praises for Pawan and his nephew.
