Vasisht, Vignesh and Soha enter semifinals
Bangalore: Karnataka lads, top seeded C.Vasisht and eight seed Vignesh Subramanya stormed into the semifinals while S. Soha kept the hosts’ flag flying with a three-set victory which propelled her into the last four of the KTPPA-AITA National Series Under-16 tennis championships at the KSLTA Stadium, here on Thursday.
Top seed Vasisht was stretched by a plucky Yugal Bansal of Haryana in the first set before the Bengalurean struck rhythm to win 7-5, 6-2.
Vignesh, on the other hand, packed too many guns for Shramay Dhawan of Delhi, sailing past his opponent for the loss of just three in his quarter-final win.
In the semi, Vasisht will face P.C. Anirudh while Vignesh takes on Mayuk Rawat.
In the girls section, Soha edged out state-mate Nikita Pinto at 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 while Shivani Manjanna went down 4-6, 1-6 to Rishika Ravi of Tamil Nadu.
Soha now meets top seed R. Abinikka of TN while Sarah Dev meets Rishika.
