Holy relic exhibited on Milad-un-Nabi

Hundreds of Muslims throng the mosques in the city and offered prayers through the day.

Vijayawada: Muslims across the district on Tuesday celebrated Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday Prophet Muhammed with religious fervour and gaiety here on Tuesday.

Members of the Muslim community, young and old alike, wearing traditional clothes took out a huge rally from Panja Centre to Jumma Madjid where the relics of the Prophet were exhibited.

Moulana Abdul Khadeer, Imam of the Shahi Masjid said the holy relic is exhibition only once a year and Muslims from various parts of the district visit the masjid to view it. “It has immense significance among the Muslims,” Moulana Abdul Khadeer said.?

The holy relic is only on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi in the Jumma Masjid. Hundreds of Muslims thronged the mosques in the city and offered prayers through the day.

At many places, Mehfil-e-Naat were organised in which verses composed in praise of the Prophet were recited.

Reports of Milad-un-Nabi being celebrated across the district also came in.
