BDA flouts rules in giving alternative sites

BDA illegally carve out sites and allotted land meant for a park at HSR Layout 3rd sector.

Bangalore: When BDA illegally carved out sites and allotted land meant for a park at HSR Layout 3rd sector, it ran into a controversy, and after Deccan Chronicle reported on this matter, an inquiry is being conducted by the BDA Special Task Force (STF).

BDA has now gone a step further and allotted seven sites of 30x40 feet at East of NGEF Layout in lieu of 50x80 ft plots that came under the park reservation.

But this too is unauthorised. Further, an additional 400 sq feet of land has been allotted to the beneficiary Lakshmidevi at a rate below the market price, leading to a huge loss to the BDA.

According to the documents available with this newspaper, BDA had allotted two sites at HSR Layout to one Lakshmidevi, who lost her land at Jnanabharathi for constructing a road.

These two sites were purchased by Saraswathi K. three days after the land was registered in Lakshmidevi’s name by the BDA. As per the rule the purchaser cannot claim for alternative sites.

When an inquiry on the allotment of the sites reserved for a park is pending with the BDA STF, an alternative site cannot be allotted. Getting the sites registered within three days proves the malafide intention of the purchaser, Saraswathi K. “It is a violation,” said a BDA official on condition of anonymity.

First of all, allotting a site at HSR Layout for the land lost at Jananbharathi is a violation of BDA allotment rules.

Further, allotting seven sites at East of NGEF Layout is a total violation of BDA allotment principles, leaving BDA poorer by a few lakhs.

A thorough probe should be ordered into the allotment of the seven sites, said an official from the BDA on condition of anonymity.

As per alternative site allotment rules, the BDA should allot an alternative site only at sites formed during the time of acquisition or the layout formed later.

Allotting an alternative site at the layouts formed earlier is a gross violation of BDA Act, added sources.
