Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu to team up
Two of Tollywood’s super stars — Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu — will, for the first time, team up for a bilingual film in Tamil and Telugu, directed by Tamil cinema’s ace director Mani Ratnam.
Nagarjuna and Mani Ratnam have to their credit a blockbuster, 'Geetanjali', in 1988. Exactly 25 years later, the actor and director will work together again.
Mahesh Babu recently revived the multi-starrers trend in Tollywood after 25 years, with 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu', along with Venkatesh. Now, he’s teaming up for another multi-starrer with Nag and Mani Ratnam.
Nagarjuna confirms, “Yes, it is true that Mani Ratnam called me and said that he wanted to make a film with me and Mahesh Babu. He approached both of us on the same day and asked us if we would be interested in working together. I told him I get along very well with Mahesh and have no problem acting with him.” Apparently, Mahesh Babu’s reaction too was the same when Mani Ratnam approached him.
Now that the two actors have agreed, Nagarjuna adds, “Mani Ratnam will come back with the complete script. We are in constant touch with him and if everything goes well, the film may start in the second half of the year. I spoke to Mahesh Babu and he is very positive,” concludes the senior actor.
