His latest release ‘1’ Nenokkadine may have received mixed reviews, but actor Mahesh Babu believes that it’s the best role of his career. “This is my finest performance after 'Pokiri'. When we first thought of the subject, I knew that this would be a film where I could showcase my acting skills,” he says, adding, “It’s easy to do commercial films but for '1', I decided to step out of my comfort zone.”
Is he upset by the lukewarm response to the film? “No, we always knew that this film is very different from the regular commercial ones. Perhaps people didn’t like it at first, but we’re slowly getting positive feedback,” Mahesh insists.
In fact, Mahesh is so proud of '1' that he believes that it will be a trendsetter even for other language films. “I want people to talk about our Telugu films. That’s why I can say that I am proud to be part of '1',” he remarks.
'1' is also special to the actor as it marks his young son’s acting debut. “After watching his performance on screen, I feel proud as a father. When I made my debut as a child actor, my father felt the same,” says the doting Dad.
Next, the actor will focus on his upcoming film 'Aagadu' and join the unit in Gujarat this week.
