Bangalore: Miffed over the neglect by a section of leaders in the party, Congress senior leader and five-time legislator from Muddebihal, C.S. Nadagouda (Appaji) is likely to resign from the post of vice president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Wednesday.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader in the party said, “Nadagouda has been sulking because the party did not make him a cabinet minister. He got more annoyed more when the KPCC formed its election committee and did not even make him a member.”
According to the source, Nadagouda was appointed to the KPCC vice-president’s post to specifically oversee the party’s preparation for the Lok Sabha elections. “However, he was never invited to election related meetings nor was he consulted on the election preparations. Therefore, he might put in his papers,” the source added.
Meanwhile when contacted, Nadagouda told this newspaper that he was resigning from the vice-president’s post.
“I am a disciplined Congress party worker. I did not join the party for the sake of power. KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar has been making frequent statements that he was instructed by none other than party national vice president, Rahul Gandhi to stick to the one man one post norm. As a disciplined soldier of the Congress, my resignation letter will reach the PCC president’s office on Wednesday,” he asserted.
When asked whether he was miffed over the party not inviting him to meetings, Nadagouda said he would not resign over such such ‘silly things’.
“Chief Minister Siddarmaiah had invited me on several occasions to discuss party related matters. I think, he took some of my suggestions in the right spirit too. I am not someone to fret over such matters. I am only concerned about fulfilling Gandhi’s desire. If the party wants my services, I will always be available. Moreover, I will be free of the onerous responsibility of vice-president in charge of Lok Sabha election preparations,” he explained.
