Chandy experience makes Ramesh Chennithala scan personal staff
Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to avoid embarrassments due to unethical acts of his personal staff members, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has entrusted the police special branch to verify the credentials of all the probable candidates who may be posted to his office.
Ramesh has also asked the police officials not to entertain any directions by his personal staff members.
In view of the embarrassment caused to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy by some of his aides, Chennithala has decided to select only persons with a clean record for his office.
“Even in the case of those who were closely associated with him for years, Chennithala is seeking clearance from the special branch,” sources close to him said.
Many candidates, mainly Congress activists associated with service organisations and retired hands, were pushing to be part of the minister’s personal staff.
mdChennithala has also told the police officers that if they entertained any directions for undue favours by any member of his personal staff, the officer would be held responsible. There would also be restrictions on unwanted entry of Congress activists in his office.
“CPIM Baffled by response to Rahul”
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala refuted Pinarayi Vijayan’s allegations against Rahul Gandhi saying the CPM was baffled by the massive response during the Congress leader’s visit to the state on Monday.
Chennithala said that Rahul Gandhi climbed atop the police vehicle because of security concerns.
“The huge participation of people in the road show has made the CPM jittery and that’s why they are making baseless allegations,’’ he added.
