Delhi student Tejswin fast progressing as athlete

Tejaswin Shankar narrowly missed the high jump meet record en route to his gold medal feat at the Inter Zone Delhi athletics Championships.

New Delhi: Tejaswin Shankar, a school student, narrowly missed the high jump meet record en route to his gold medal feat at the Inter Zone Delhi athletics Championships, here.

Tejaswin, a class IX student of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, cleared a height of 1.87m, missing the meet mark of 1.91m just by a whisker.

Following his stupendous performance, Tejaswin was selected to represent Delhi at the inter-school national championship in Ranchi, where he won a bronze with the effort of 1.86m.

At the CBSE National Athletics championships his performance dipped a but a jump of 1.75m was enough for him to secure a gold medal in cluster-12 high jump event.

He was also selected for CBSE Nationals in Varanasi where he again won the gold medal by clearing a height of 1.84m by defeating amateur junior national bronze medal winner from Kerala.
