BJP begins poll preparatory work

Party gauges pulse of rural voters in campaign.

Chennai: The BJP, which is confident of firming up poll alliance with few regional parties by early next month, has got into election mode with the party seniors commencing the session to train the office bearers of various wings in the party to take up poll issues.

The saffron party will constituency-wise conferences soon to gear up the cadres for the Lok Sabha polls. Though the BJP party never felt anxious over fighting electoral battles in the past, this time the party is not taking any chance. It is holding meetings, reviewing and issuing instructions.

The state leaders have been thrust with the onus of showing good election results in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and this has kept the senior leaders touring the length and breadth of Tamil Nadu for assessing the ground realities and identifying issues.

Several leaders including state president Pon Radhakrishnan, national executive member L. Ganesan, national secretary Dr. Tamilisaisoundarajan, secretary Vanathi Srinivasan, organising secretary S. Mohanarajulu and national executive member H. Raja have been visiting the districts and interacting with the party caders.

Already the party had gauged the pulse of rural voters through the door-to-door campaign: “Modi for every household and lotus in every heart” and obtained some encouraging results.

The youth in the state are fed up with the “corrupt” Congress at the Centre and are desperate to see its exit, a senior leader in the party said. “The Modi wave seen in other parts of the country is found here too,” the leader said. And the latest initiative of the party is to reach out to the voters though the distribution of the Pongal gifts bags for free.
