Kochi: The Sabarimala temple premises reverberated with prayers as pilgrims assembled in lakhs at Sannidhanam, Pampa and Poonkavanam among other places to witness the holy ‘Makarajyoti’ and offer prayers at the Lord Ayyapa temple on Makaravilakku day on Tuesday.
Virtually signalling the end of the two-month pilgrimage season, the Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments) will be brought from Pandalam palace to the sanctum sanctorum for adorning the Lord Ayyapa idol around 6 p.m.
Deeparadhana will be then held at 6.30 p.m when on the eastern horizon, the star of Makaram will shine brightly. The deeparadhana at Ponnambalamedu, a remote hill in the shola forests facing Sabarimala Sannidhanam, will be performed immediately after this.
