Kozhikode: The Aam Aadmi Party leaders have invited P.T.A. Rahim MLA, National Secular Conference state president, to join the party, it is learnt.
Though Rahim denied reports that he was joining the AAP, he said that a group of AAP leaders had held discussions with him. “Some of the leaders met me, we held discussions but nothing beyond,” he said.
“We are very comfortable with the LDF and if the Left has any plans to join hands with the AAP, we will think about it later,” he added. For the last few days, there was speculation about Rahim joining the AAP.
He has reportedly accepted the AAP offer in principle and the party state conference next month will take a final decision on it. The AAP Malappuram unit and leaders of NSC had met at the Kozhikode rest house recently to discuss the NSC merger with the AAP, sources said.
It may be recalled that though the NSC has been cooperating with the LDF for many years, the LDF is yet to accommodate it in the front. The NSC members were unhappy over the neglect faced by them in the LDF.
