Churchill Brothers all set for Fed Cup

Kochi: The present I-League champions Churchill Brothers and four more teams arrived to rousing reception at the Karipur and Nedumbassery airports, ahead of the upcoming Federation Cup football, on Saturday.

Churchill arrived first followed by Pune FC that is captained by Kerala boy Anas E., at Nedumbassery. Dempo and Mohammedan Sporting landed at Karipur while Rangdajied arrived here and took the road to Manjeri.

The organisers have informed road shows will be conducted as a promotional event for the mega event, on Sunday.

The road show carrying Fed Cup flag and other football mementos will be flagged off from the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi at 10 am. It will pass through the districts of Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and reach Malappuram in the evening.

The road show will be accorded a grand reception at the Municipal Stadium in Manjeri, informed Anil Kumar secretary of Kerala Football Association.

Army School beat GV Raja boys,reach final

Army Sports School Bangalore defeated G.V. Raja Sports School Thiruvananthapuram in shootout to reach the semifinal of 13th MAT mini football tournament, in Aluva on Saturday.

The outstation team won 4-2 in penalties after the game finished 1-1 in regulation time. Skipper Saroj Rai, Boinao Singh and Passang Tshering Bhutia scored from the spot for the winners.

Earlier, it was Saroj who got his side back into the game with an equaliser on 30 minutes after Akhil had put G.V. Raja in front in the 7th minute.
