Special prayers in Rajasthan to cost Rs 35 lakh

BJP believes that no one but Almighty can ensure prosperity and happiness in the state.

Jaipur: The newly-formed BJP government in Rajasthan will hold special prayers at temples, churches, dargahs and gurdwaras in the belief that no one but the Almighty can ensure prosperity and happiness in the state.

The special prayers will be held at more than 100 prominent places of worship and would cost the exchequer Rs 35 lakh. The prayers are to begin from January 15, a day after the inauspicious period of 'Adhik Maas', also known as 'Mal Maas', ends.
The Devasthan Department, which oversees management of temples, has prepared a proposal to this effect as part of its priority works for the first 60-day programme. The proposal is to be sent for approval to chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
However, there is little doubt that the proposal will be cleared as Raje is known for her spiritual and religious inclinations. Before every special occasion or event, Raje first visits a temple and always consults astrologers about the timing, be it the beginning of an election campaign, the filing of nomination papers, the day of polling or counting.
She started the 'Suraj Sankalp Yatra' from the famous Charbhuja temple and on the day of filing of nominations she called party leader Shahnawaz Hussain to be by her side as he had proved lucky in 2003.
