Shah Rukh Khan dedicated three awards for three children
The awards season has begun in tinsel town and Shah Rukh Khan has already started bagging the accolades for his performance in 'Chennai Express'.
How does it feel to kick off the awards’ season with so many wins? “What do actors look forward to the most? Appreciation, of course! So, yes awards do matter to me,” SRK admits, before adding, “There’s been a long-standing belief in the industry, that if you want to win awards, you have to perform at the show. But I believe we (actors) love having the opportunity to perform.”
He is happy that he is not being on any of the award juries but he does have a few thoughts on how they should operate. “If I’m ever a jury member, I will try to bring in a lot of changes. I would do away with the best male and female actor categories and have just one best actor award. I believe that we are all actors so there should be no gender bias.”
Turning nostalgic, Shah Rukh speaks about his first award, “When I won the Filmfare Best Debut award in 1992, I dedicated it to my parents. I found out through some website, that I’ve been given over 172, but I’ve not counted them.”
But for now, the doting father loves taking home his awards for his children. “I always carry my awards back home and place them next to my daughter’s pillow, that is, if I get only one award. But if I receive two awards, then I place one next to my son’s pillow as well,” he smiles and then adds, “Now that AbRam has also joined our family, I will try to get at least three awards each year, so that I can place one next to his pillow too.”
