Malaysia to host 2013 Women's World Squash Championship
Kuala Lumpur: The 2013 Women's World Squash Championship will take place in the Malaysian state of Penang from March 14-21 after it was cancelled last year as Egypt and Hong Kong refused to host the WSA's premier event.
The USD 120,000 prize-fund event, previously known as the Women's World Open, will get underway at the Nicol David International Squash Centre with the later rounds scheduled on an all-glass showcourt at the Penang International Sports Arena.
The announcement was made today after the Women's Squash Association reached an agreement with the Penang government.
The WSA's premier event will be staged for the first time in Penang, the home of defending champion and World No.1 Nicol David.
As the world meet will be held in mid-March, the KL Open is likely to be postponed to a later date.
The 2014 edition of the championship will take place later in the year.
