The MIM has opposed making Hyderabad the common capital for 10 years.

Hyderabad: The MIM has opposed making Hyderabad the common capital for 10 years, and handing over law and order duties to the Governor, among its 31 amendments to the T Bill.

The MIM wants Hyderabad to be interim capital for less than two years, and the area to be the 17-sq km Khairatabad mandal.

The MIM wanted the Old City tagged as backward and providing it a Rs 5,000-crore package. It wanted Urdu as the first official language along with Telugu in Telangana and second official language in AP. It wanted airports at Warangal, Nizamabad and Khammam.

MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said empowering the Governor with law and order powers would create a ‘Super Governor’, and make Hyderabad a de facto Union Territory and virtually facilitate President’s Rule.

Owaisi sought bifurcation of the High Court, alloting New Delhi’s AP Bhavan to Telangana, declaring Polavaram and Pranahita-Chevella as national projects with funds from the Centre, allocation of deficit power from the Central pool.

It wants specific allocations of waters from Singur project (7 tmc ft), Krishna (16 tmc ft)?and Godavari (10 tmc ft)?for Hyderabad.

The MIM urged the Centre to set up a 2,000 MW power project through the NTPC and two 4000-MW?ultra mega power projects in the PPP?for Hyderabad.
