Big win for Don Bosco

Chennai: Don Bosco (Egmore) trounced St. Bede’s 6-0 in the Chola MS Schools Premier League football tournament at MCC School, Chetpet, on Thursday. Yohan Thomas Benns was the star of the show with four goals.

Kevin Christopher scored a brace to complete a memorable day for Don Bosco. Later in the day, P.S. Senior Secondary School defeated Vanavani 2-0.

Few would have thought that the score line would be so conclusive in the Don Bosco-St. Bede’s match. Don Bosco only led by a goal at half-time. But the floodgates opened after the break with Benns firing on all cylinders.

The pint-sized forward had a hand in five of his team’s six goals. He showed remarkable composure in front of goal. The way he clipped the ball for his second caught the eye. Christopher enjoyed good chemistry with Benns to put St.?Bede’s to the sword.

In the second match, Kiran Kesav put P.S. ahead in the 12th minute with a splendid goal. He used his strength to good effect as he entered the box from the right leaving a couple of defenders in his wake. Kiran’s powerful shot was unstoppable. Man of the match Harsha Vardhan put the result beyond doubt with a clinical strike.
