Hiremath to mentor AAP
Bangalore: Anti-corruption crusader and convenor of the Samaj Parivartana Samudaya (SSA), S.R. Hiremath made it clear on Thursday that he had no intention of leading the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the state.
A founding member of the AAP, the whistleblower, who has brought many a politician to his knees with his campaign against illegal iron ore mining, said he was now 61 and also busy with several high profile legal battles in various courts. “I have advised AAP leaders to pick a young man to lead the party in the state. I will be a mentor and guide the party,” he added.
Hiremath however, said he was keen on bringing like-minded political parties under a single roof to fight the coming Lok Sabha elections unitedly.
“In Karnataka the AAP and Loksatta party are working with a similar goal. We have a common understanding with activists like Ashwin Mahesh and others of the Loksatta. So I want both parties to fight the elections together,” he said.
