Eastern Naval Command chief opens expo by Naval Wives Welfare Association

Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), eastern region’s annual exhibition was inaugurated here on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), eastern region’s annual exhibition was inaugurated here on Thursday by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), commander-in-chief, vice-admiral Anil Chopra.

The exhibition showcases items made by ladies of the community that include garments, candles and other household articles.

 

Udyogika, the block printing unit of NWWA has come out with exquisite saris, salwar suits, dining sheets, bed covers and other items specially to add to the ongoing Sankranti festivities.

Each fabric is hand printed and designed in a unique style. It has been the endeavour of Udyogika to retain Indian traditional form of printing, whilst also encouraging the local weavers from Andhra Pradesh in sustaining their traditional craft of manufacturing natural fabrics. The exhibition will be open to public from 11 am to 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

NWWA, a registered NGO, runs schools for special children, a play school for the children of domestic helps, block printing unit for women of the community among others.
