New Delhi: Did you know that India’s biggest auto carnival — the 12th India Auto Expo 2014 — is going to be bigger and better this year? Well, get set for some adrenaline rush as this year’s auto show, starting?February 5, will witness 40 car launches.
However, the number of total launches across various product categories will be 70. Given that the auto industry has been bogged down by the slowdown, car manufacturers are betting big on the Auto Expo to revive market sentiment and pep up sales.
“This year, we are going to see over 70 launches against 46 in the last edition,” said Sugato Sen, deputy director-general, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). He said that 47 vehicle manufacturers will be participating in the 12th Auto Expo.
This year the Expo will be moving out of Delhi only to be held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for better space management.
“This year the exhibition space at the Auto Expo will be 64,000 square metres against 44,000 square metres in the last edition, an increase of 45 per cent,” said Sen.
“We hope that auto expo will bring in the change in the sentiment which we all want to see today,” he added.
