Young North Bengal girls thrash Mouma, Poulami in Natl TT
Patna: Star-studded Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) and North Bengal teams today stormed into the final of the Women's category the 75th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis team Championship.
The PSPB defeated the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in the semi-finals, while the North Bengal blanked West Bengal by an identical 3-0 in the semi-finals at the Patliputra Sports Complex here.
For the victorious PSPB, K Shamini trounced A Mukherjee 13-11,11-5 and 11-3, while her teammate Madhulika defeated Ritwika 12-10,11-5 and 11-7 even as Neha Aggarwal overcame N Bhanu in four sets with the scoreline reading 11-2, 7-11, 11-9 and 12-10 in the first semifinals.
In the second semifinal, Nandita Saha opened the lead for North Bengal defeating West Bengal's Sutirtha Mukherjee in four sets by 11-5,11-7, 7-11,6-11 and 11-9, while the teenager Sagarika Mukherjee made it 2-0 trouncing the Arjuna awardee Mouma Das 13-11, 11-7 and 12-10.
Sukanya Bose sealed the match in favour of North Bengal ousting the veteran paddler Poulomi Ghatak in a four-set cliffhanger by 11-9, 12-10, 8-11 and 11-5. Earlier North Bengal upset the title holders Delhi by 3-1, while West Bengal overpowered Tamil Nadu by 3-0. AAI defeated Maharashtra(A) by 3-1 and PSPB blanked out Maharashtra (B) by 3-0 in womens quarters final matches.
