Errors in records hit job-seekers
Chennai: The Krishnagiri district employment exchange, which recorded incorreÂct data regarding many applicants, has not corrected the errors despite a direction from the MaÂdras high court last NoÂvember asking the emÂployment exchange ‘to restore’ the right entries in its records in two moÂnths’ time.
This delay has resulted in several graduates and other qualified applicants remaining unemployed. One of the appliÂcÂÂants M. Christopher moÂved the high court for help in early 2013. He mentioned in his petition that his status was ‘differently abled-ortho’, but the officer’s entry was ‘mentally challenÂged’. This mistake in the employment exchange reÂÂcords has debarred hiÂm from applying for any job.
The deadline for the corrections to be made is January 5, and like ChriÂstopher, there are many applicants who registered with the KrishÂnagiri employment exÂcÂhange and are hoping the changes are made so that they can go ahead and apply for jobs.
A senior official in the Directorate of EmplÂoyment and Training Institute said, “We will take immediate action. We have started uploading all the information online. Since we have to manage huge amounts of data, there are possibilities of errors.”
