Bomb thrower Sam in custody, 4 goondas held
Kochi: Sam Lonan, a suspected aide of Maradu Aneesh, who was accused of throwing bombs at an apartment near Deshabhimani Junction, was sent to police custody for 10 days after he was produced before the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on Thursday.
The police had brought him from Madurai jail after receiving a production warrant for him. Sam had earlier surrendered before the Madurai court in connection with a spirit smuggling case there and was remanded to Madurai jail.
Sam and another man had thrown two bombs at an apartment, Revathy Court Complex, on Kollampady Road last month. The investigation team is still hunting for his aide.
Meanwhile, four more suspected goons of Bhai Nazeer’s quotation gang were held from Kochi after they were found travelling in a car with weapons.
The arrested were identified as Shaiju Joseph (27) of Yordhanapuram near Puthiyekkara, Amal C.Sabu (19) and Vipin Lonachan (24) of Puthiyekkara and Rixon of Matoor.
They were held by the special branch police with the help of Ernakulam central police.
The gang was found inside a car on Foreshore Road in the city. They had an iron rod, a kit of sand, broad duct tapes, belts and iron blocks with them.
Among them, Shaiju and Rixon already have Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act registered against them for anti-social activities at Nedumbassery and Kalady.
The duo was released from Kakkanad jail just a month ago after serving a 45-day term for attacking a woman and her son.
