Another Chennai airport glass pane cracks
Chennai: New Year dawned with another glass panel at the city airport developing a crack.
While officials continue to explÂain this away with reasons, such as excessive heat, this is the 12th incident of glass cracking and demonstrates the poor workmanship in the construction of the new terminals at Chennai airport.
A city airport official said a 6x6 ft glass frame in the mezzanine level of the new domestic terminal developed a crack at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
Airport sources added that the glass panel fell at around 9.20 am on Thursday, but officials failed to confirm this.
According to a senior airport official, one side of the double-layered glaÂss overlooking the veÂrÂtical garden, developed a crack due to excessive heat.
But souÂrÂÂces said that the glass paÂnel fell, but no one was injured in the incident.
