During their 'Chennai Express' days, Shah Rukh Khan had said that his co-star Deepika Padukone should be given top billing over him. And the King Khan seems to be keeping his promise for their next film, 'Happy New Year' too. Deepika will be enjoying the top billing in the publicity material and promotional campaign for the film.
“Deepika’s name will be appearing before Shah Rukh’s as he had said during the making of 'Chennai Express',” informs a source.
At that time the declaration seemed odd to many as the entire film was promoted more as a Rohit Shetty-entertainer than a quintessential SRK-starrer. But for the leading man, the decision was final.
Farah Khan, who will be directing SRK and Deepika in 'Happy New Year', has confirmed the news. “Shah Rukh wants it this way and we are happy to comply with the same,” she said. The film is slated to for a Diwali release this year.
