FB helps unite runaway son with mom

Cops trace youth by tracking computer he used to update page.

Raipur: The social networking site, Facebook has helped in the reunion of a missing youth with his mother, police said here on Wednesday.

According to the police, 16-year-old Suresh (not his real name) of Raipur had run away from home on May 23 last after his mother had rebuked him for having failed to clear his Class X final examinations.

His mother was trying to overcome the shock of the untimely demise of her husband early in 2013, and had high hopes on her only child, Suresh, doing well in his studies.

However, all her hopes were dashed when she learnt about Suresh’s poor performance in the examinations.

The boy, too, was in a state of shock over losing his father. Hence, he could not focus in his studies.

“The mother was furious over her son’s poor performance. She beat him up badly. The boy could not take it and fled from home without informing his mother,” investigating officer Ajey Tiwari said here.

The boy was later found to be using his Facebook account regularly.

“The case was referred to the cyber cell of Raipur police when it came to be known that the boy was operating his Facebook account. The cyber cell located the cyber café from where the boy was accessing his social networking site after identifying its IP address.” Tiwari said.

The youth was duly located in a cyber café at Bhindi Bazar in Mumbai. A team of policemen led by Havildar Sabir Ali went to Mumbai and brought the boy back home. “He was handed over to his mother here on Wednesday,” the police officer said.
