Bangalore: Three-year-old Mariyam Kausar, who had undergone a tracheotomy surgery on Monday at Malati Manipal hospital, is showing some signs of improvement. Her aunt Reshma said that “She is responding to pain by moving her fingers.”
Mariyam, who has been battling for life because of alleged medical negligence at the hands of the doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics (SGITO), is still in coma.
“She is showing movement of limbs when we touch her and the temperature is now normal, but doctors are not sure whether it is because of the medication,” her father Mudassar said.
The distraught family memÂbers and relatives of three-year-old had on TueÂsday protested outside SGITO demanding the suspension of erring doctors.
They feared that during the inquiry, the cases against them may be diluted.
The executive committee members had visited the family at Malati Manipal hospital on Tuesday evening and taken statements and other documents provided by their parents.
“The committee members had come yesterday evening and taken down statements from us and other documents and reports. They will be submitting the reports to the government in a day or two," said Rafiulla, Mariyam’s uncle. Meanwhile the family is awaiting a decision being taken on the doctors involved. “It will be decided on Thursday,” her
father said.
