TDP, YSRC Congress activists clash in Prakasam district; 10 injured
Hyderabad: Tension gripped Addanki town in Prakasam district today after TDP and YSR Congress activists clashed, leaving atleast 10 persons, including a police constable, injured.
"Three platoons of Quick Response Teams were rushed to the town after the incident and the situation is under control," Prakasam district Superintendent of Police P Pramod Kumar said, adding efforts were underway to nab those involved in the clash.
The trouble started after YSR Congress workers waived the party flag when TDP workers were coming in a procession in the town.
Workers from both the parties suddenly indulged in a verbal duel and tore apart flexi boards of respective parties, police said.
Subsequently, TDP workers allegedly pelted stones near the YSR Congress office, after which activists of both the parties began clashing, they said.
At least 10 persons from both the parties, including a constable, were injured during the clashes.
A large number of supporters from both the parties later held protests and counter protests and also blocked the Addanki-Narketpally road. Police intervened and dispersed the protesters.
