Kochi: As The Vytilla Mobility Hub exit towards Tripunithura side will be closed for four days from January 4 to facilitate repair after certain portions of the stretch "sunk", making it difficult for buses to ply.
"We've already floated and awarded the tender for the work costing Rs 4 lakh. This after, holding talks with private bus operators who had threatened to skip the hub if the section wass not leveled at the earliest. We've waited so far to avoid closing the hub on Christmas-New Year occasions," said a senior Vytilla Mobility Hub Society official.
However, the repair will be temporary in nature as the Kochi metro work will soon progress in full swing at the region.
Works to construct bunds across the Kaniampuzha river to facilitate setting up of metro pillars have started. Already a pillar has been set up at the hub by contractor Era Constructions.
Meanwhile, the bus employees of the Vytilla-Vytilla services threatened to go on strike from January two demanding better pay.
