Demand rises for Telugu Desam, YSRC tickets

Representatives of educational institutions opting for honours on behalf of TD.

Rajahmundry: With just three months away for the general elections more candidates are waiting in the wings, to get the honours on behalf of both Telugu Desam and YSR Congress, with some neutrals keeping options for the national party, BJP, in East Godavari.

The only exception seems to be the ruling Congress which is facing discontentment among the party leaders and cadre due to the stance adopted by it, on the issue of unified State.

The notable feature in this aspect is the representatives of educational institutions opting for honours on behalf of TD.

As far as Assembly polls are concerned, the stance taken up by the Congress is said to be a blessing in disguise for both TD and YSRC, as majority of the sitting people’s representatives and senior leaders, who have been on the lookout for greener pastures, are vying for the honours.

As far as TD is concerned, according to details available, the rush to enter has gone up in the last one month with at least five to six and even more seeking tickets for the 19 Assembly segments.

Among the representatives of educational institutions as of now, Dr Paruchuri Krishna Rao of Pragati Institutions is seeking Peddapuram Assembly seat and representative of KIET and Rajiv Gandhi institutions, P.V.V. Viswam, is front runner for Kakinada Lok Sabha.

As far as YSRC is concerned, the party’s women’s wing state president, Kolli Nirmala Kumari, who is in the party since its inception, is aspiring for Amalapuram Lok Sabha seat.

She is facing stiff competition from former minister, Pinepe Viswaroop, who joined the party recently.

The party is said to be facing similar situation in majority of other constituencies.

When contacted on the issue of inspiration factor to other educational institutions’ representatives, the Aditya chairman and sitting MLA, Nallamilli Sesha Reddy, said that those who have intentions to serve the people can opt for public life.

TD district unit president N. Chinarajappa, revealed that as of now, they welcome the new comers in to the party, but are not assuring them party tickets.
