Hyderabad: Different deadlines have been mandated by different authorities for the serving of liquor on New Year’s eve much to the puzzlement of citizens.
The Hyderabad and Cyberabad police has accorded permission to all those organising parties to serve liquor till 1 am. However, those availing of a one-day licence for private parties at resorts have been told to shut shop by 11 pm, an hour before the New Year starts.
People are angry at this restriction when thousands of rupees have been paid to obtain the licence from the excise department.
Another order of the government allows the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation bars to serve liquor till 1 am, in line with the police orders. Even retail stores have been allowed to run till midnight.
