1 am deadline set for New Year festivities; restrictions laid

Police to crack down on drunken driving, besides providing security to revellers.

Hyderabad: City cops will keep a close watch on the New Year parties to prevent the use of narcotic drugs. The police will also crack down on drunken driving, besides providing security to revellers.

The Commissioner’s Task Force and teams of zonal DCPs have started tracking down known peddlers who intend to push drugs at high-profile parties.

Police commissioners Anurag Sharma of Hyderabad and C.V. Anand of Cyberabad set a 1 am deadline for parties in the city.

In an unprecedented move, the Cyberabad police has asked all registered party organisers to instal CCTV cameras at their venues, and provide minute-to-minute footage two days later.

Both commissioners have sent out a strict warning to drunk driving. Traffic curbs will also be imposed, all the flyovers in the city will be closed on the eve, higher officials said.

Police has set some rules for the revellers, and will take strict action if these are broken. The organisers will also be not spared, higher officials said.

“For any disorderliness, violence, injuries, loss of life, at the place of events, the licencee or organiser would be liable for prosecution. Their licence will be cancelled,” said Anand.

The following traffic restrictions have been put in place by the cops for New Year:

1) Necklace Road, NTR Marg and Upper Tank Bund will be closed from 10 pm on Tuesday to 2 am on Wednesday.

All flyovers will also be closed. On Tuesday night, police will be checking for drunken driving, rash driving and triple-riding.

2) Police has further informed traffic at various points, leading to the roads adjacent to Hussainsagar, will be diverted.

Vehicles coming from the VV Statue towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted at the VV Statue towards Khairatabad and Raj Bhavan road.

3) Vehicles from BRK Bhavan towards NTR Marg will be diverted towards Iqbal Minar, Lakdikapul, Ayodhya.

4) Traffic from Liberty junction towards Secunderabad will be diverted at the MCH Office Y-junction, towards BRK Bhavan, Telugu Talli, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharati, Lakdikapul and Ayodhya.

5) Vehicular traffic from Khairatabad market towards Necklace Rotary will be diverted at Khairatabad towards Meera Talkies lane.

6) The Mint compound lane adjacent to Secretariat will be closed for general vehicular traffic.

Vehicular traffic from Nallagutta Railway Bridge will not be allowed towards Sanjeevaiah Park and Necklace Road and will be diverted towards Karbala Maidan or Ministers Road.

7) Vehicles from Secunderabad will be diverted at the Sailing Club towards Kavadiguda crossroads, Lower Tank Bund, Katta Maisamma Temple, Ashok Nagar, RTC crossroads.

8) Travel company buses and heavy vehicles will also not be allowed into the city till 2 am on Wednesday.

Alert for air passengers

Further, people going to the airport on Tuesday night would need to leave early as the PV Narsimha Rao Expressway will also be closed from 11 pm on Tuesday to 5 am on Wednesday.

All flyovers in the Cyberabad police limits will also be closed during the same time.

The Outer Ring Road will also be closed during the same period but those taking the ORR to reach the airport will be allowed on production of their air tickets.

Drunken drivers beware

Police chiefs of both the commissionerates have said that there will be large-scale checking for drunken driving on the roads.

Senior officials said apart from traffic cops, many other enough police officers will be on the roads under Zonal DCPs to close keep a watch on the revelers.

Gambling is not allowed

1) No DJ is allowed and the sound of the loud speakers should not exceed 45 decibels.

2)Obscene dances, acts, films etc. are strictly prohibited and no professional dance programmes should be organised.

3) No dangerous shows should also be conducted by the organisers.

4)Revelers should not carry fire-arms even if they have a licence. People in possession of arms should not be allowed inside the party venues.

5)Bursting of crackers is strictly prohibited.

6)Smoke extinguishers and water should be arranged to prevent fire accidents at the venues.

The organisers should deploy sufficient private security personnel for security and traffic management inside and outside the venue.

Do’s and Don’ts for revelers and organisers:

1)Admission to all New Year party venues should be only through invitation.

2) No general public should be allowed into the party venues.

3) Only couple, who have registered, and their acquaintances will be allowed. No single person (male or female) shall be allowed to enter the venues.

4) The event organisers should make sure that the revelers do not driving their vehicles in inebriated condition
