Party serious about Nilekani's intent to fight LS polls: KPCC
Bangalore: Karnataka PCC President G Parameshwara on Monday said his party is serious about the intent expressed by IT czar Nandan Nilekani to contest Lok Sabha polls on Congress ticket from Bangalore South constituency.
"Yes. He (Nilekani) has met me and expressed his intent to contest for Lok Sabha. The party has taken it very seriously because people like Nilekani expressing his intent for becoming a Congress candidate is something which we really feel happy about," Parameshwara said.
"We will also talk to our cadres in that particular constituency and our local leaders, and see what best we can do. He might be interested in contesting from Bangalore south constituency," he said.
To a question whether Nilekani is being considered going against party's basic guidelines for candidature, he said, "Our party constitution gives authority to its national President to take final decision on any matter."
