Lawyers demand panel for children
Visakhapatnam: The forum of legal professionals, a voluntary?organisation for promoting legal awareness, on Sunday demanded that thestate government immediately appoint chairperson and six members,?including two women members, for state commission for protection of?child rights as provided under Commission for Protection of Child?Rights Act, 2005.
“This is very urgent in view of the Supreme Court, in its Dec 16, 2013 order, directing the state government to establish the said commission within eight weeks. The earlier directions of the Supreme Court in?January and February, 2013 were disregarded by the government and hence?the apex court gave a final notice in December,” said senior?advocate and forum member K. Muralidhar.
Protection of children by the state government is mandatory under?Article 21, 21A, 23,24,45 and 51(a) K of the Constitution, Muralidhar said.
