AAP kick-starts campaign in Bangalore

AAP is already working on local issues in Bangalore; rally to spread awareness about AAP.

Bangalore: The Freedom Park turned into Ramlila Maidan of New Delhi on Saturday as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members from the city gathered with brooms and placards before starting on a bike rally.

Around 100 members and volunteers of AAP gathered at the Freedom Park to create awareness about the party and its activities. Sumith, secretary, Karnataka, AAP, said that many would join the rally as it passed through the city.

The rally started at 9.30 am and ended at 5 pm. The members stopped at crowded places, collected data of people interested in AAP, distributed pamphlets and performed street plays on bad politics and women safety.

The placards had messages for the electorate – “you can clean the system with a broom”, “bad politics are not born, but created by good people who go on a picnic on a voting day”, etc.

C.V. Geetha, state executive member, AAP, said, “The rally will spread awareness about the activities of the AAP. We are already working on solving many local issues in the city. Soon, the State Preparatory Committee will chart out the course and the issues we need to focus on.”

Rahul, an AAP member, said, “We will talk about bad politics in this state. The classic example is Yeddyurappa’s bid to get back to the BJP. The tax payers’ money is being wasted on MLAs’ foreign junkets.”

He said that in many developed countries local vigilance groups protect women. “We are trying to create such communities here too. We want to tell the people that they should not depend only on police for help, and create an alternative system.”
