Prabhakara makes the cut
Bangalore: BK Prabhakara earned a spot to represent Puravankara Bangalore team of Louis Philippe Cup 2014 after shooting a round with a total nett score of 44 stableford points at the Bangalore Golf Club on Saturday. Priya Alex returned with 39 nett points to finish the day as runner up, but missed the bus to represent a Bengaluru team for India’s biggest city-based team golf championship.
Prabhakar will be joined by two other amateurs, Saif Mekhri who won from Eagleton Golf Resort and David D’souza who sealed his berth from KGA last month. The trio will form the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team and fight for the Inter-City Pro Am title at Louis Philippe Cup 2014.
The tournament was played in the stableford format where Bangalore Golf Club hosted the last club qualifier for the third edition of the Louis Philippe Cup.
A one day event witnessed some serious competition amongst 200 avid amateur golfers from the city who were playing for the coveted prize - a chance to play alongside Anirban Lahiri for Puravankara Bangalore team at Louis Philippe Cup 2014.

Income Tax claim trophy
Income Tax edged out Dharmaraja Union 5-4 via tie breaker in the final of the BDFA ‘B’ Division football knockout tournament for the Jagdeshwara Achar Cup on Saturday.
Income Tax converted all their spot kicks while Dhramaraja Union could only convert four out of five after the duo played out a goalless draw. Shelton of Dhramaraja Union was named the player of the tournament.
Result: Final: Dharmaraja Union 0(4) lt to Income Tax 0 (5) via tie breaker.
TN defeat Andhra Pradesh
Tamil Nadu got past Andhra Pradesh 3-1 in the meÂn’s section of the Youth South Zone volleyball chaÂmpionship on Saturday. In the woman’s division, Tamil Nadu and KarnaÂtaka overcame PondichÂeÂrÂry and Andhra Pradesh reÂsÂpÂectively to enter the final.
