AIADMK?gets 4K forms for LS polls
Chennai: The ruling AIADMK has received about 4,537 applÂiÂcÂaÂtion forms from aspirants for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, fetching the party '11.34 crore through sale of forms.
Interestingly, over 1,175 persons including four frÂom the union territory of Puducherry have filed the forms at the party headquÂarters here urging their party supremo and chief minister J. Jayalalithaa to contest from their Lok SaÂbha constituencies in the elections.
“From December 19 when the sale of application forms began, 1,175 party members from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry reqÂuested Jayalalithaa to contest from their respective constituencies,” a paÂrÂty releÂase said.
Also, about 3,343 cadres from Tamil Nadu and 19 from Puducherry have submitted the forms seeking party tickets to contest the polls. Many senior leaders and state ministers too had submitted the applications on behalf of JayalÂalÂithaa.
The ruling party which had resolved to work towÂards the goal of securing a massive win in all the 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections next year, is determined to make their ‘AmÂma’ (Jayalalithaa) to lead India as prime minister.
Recently, the AIADMK members resolved to undeÂrtake a campaign soon to highlight the achievements of Jayalalithaa, particularly her efforts on eliminating poverty, ensuring food security. They would garner people’s support in ensuring her golden rule bloomed at the national capital too.
Besides, the AIADMK caÂdres and functionaries woÂuld also highlight the nuÂmerous initiatives of Jayalalithaa in fostering development across various fields in TN. Sources said consultative meetings are underway to gear up the party at grassroots.
