30 MLAs to quit Congress, Botsa wants to take actions

Botsa has district-wise names, warns action against legislators

Hyderabad: The state Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters on Friday that nearly 30 Seemandhra MLAs, including two or three ministers, will leave the Congress and the PCC knows who they are.

Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan, Satyanarayana said the party will take action against the defectors at an appropriate time. He said from the Telangana region no one will leave the Congress.
The PCC chief warned that in the coming elections the people will teach a lesson to those who are jumping from one party to another.

He said that when one leader leaves, it is a loss for the party. However, it would not be considered a loss if 100 leaders leave the party when all that they do is damage the party. He added that it is no use of having such leaders.

To a question he replied that the party has sent a showcause notice to senior MLA J.C. Diwakar Reddy and action will be taken depending on his reply.

He said TD chief Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had supported the state’s division in the past, but now they are blaming AICC president Sonia Gandhi for the bifurcation.

He accused both leaders of wanting to come to power by exploiting the sentiments of the people.

He said Congress MLAs can express their opinion freely in the discussion on the Telangana Bill in the assembly. Asked if he would speak in the assembly he replied, "I am just an MLA. There are floor leaders to speak."

He was in favour of extending the deadline given to the assembly to express its opinion and said he hopes that AP will still be united when the next general election is held. However, the party high command's decision on Telangana is final, he emphasised.

He clarified that there was no connection between granting Telangana state and merger of the TRS with the Congress.
