Unions for new Electricity Bo­ard pact soon

Trade unions of Ta­mil Nadu Electricity Bo­ard appeals for new wa­ge accord before Pongal.

Chennai: Various trade unions of Ta­mil Nadu Electricity Bo­ard on Friday urged state electricity minister Natham R. Visw­a­nathan to sign a new wa­ge accord before Pongal festival.

“We have appealed to the minister to expedite the wage revisions talks to sign a new accord by Po­ngal festival,” K. Vij­ayan, president of Cen­tral Organisation of Ta­mil Nadu Electricity Em­ployees, said. The wage revision has been pending from December 1, 2011, and the hike would benefit over 80,000 empl­oyees of TNEB.

On Friday, repres­e­n­t­ati­ves of 14 employees and workers unions sig­ned an agreement to create promotional avenues in all the general construction circle with representatives of Tangedco in the presence of Mr Viswanathan.

As per the agreement, 318 new posts would be crated and 457 existing posts would be abolished in various categories in all the general construction circles.
