Unions for new Electricity Board pact soon
Chennai: Various trade unions of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board on Friday urged state electricity minister Natham R. Viswanathan to sign a new wage accord before Pongal festival.
“We have appealed to the minister to expedite the wage revisions talks to sign a new accord by Pongal festival,” K. Vijayan, president of Central Organisation of Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees, said. The wage revision has been pending from December 1, 2011, and the hike would benefit over 80,000 employees of TNEB.
On Friday, representatives of 14 employees and workers unions signed an agreement to create promotional avenues in all the general construction circle with representatives of Tangedco in the presence of Mr Viswanathan.
As per the agreement, 318 new posts would be crated and 457 existing posts would be abolished in various categories in all the general construction circles.
