Sasthamkotta lake to be made a tourist destination
Kollam: Sasthamkotta lake, the largest fresh water lake in the state, will be made a major tourist destination soon. The District Tourism Promotion Council has initiated a project to develop it by preserving the natural ecosystem of the area.
“Tourist facilities, including rest rooms and places to sit and watch the beauty of the pristine waters, will be provided,” said P. K. Jayakrishnan, DTPC secretary.
A gateway is proposed as an entry to the lakeside at the temple end. An amphitheatre along with a garden to beautify the lake premises is planned. The theatre is intended to stage various art forms of the state to attract tourists.
A footpath will be made alongside the shore with special canopies for the visitors to sit and relax. A preliminary study on the project has already been conducted in this regard.
