Rajeev: K.V.Thomas’s move is suspicious
Kochi: CPM leader and Member of Rajya Sabha P Rajeev on Friday said that there was a concerted move to prevent the revival of the Old Railway Station and the latest move to convert it into a passenger station was part of this.
“At a time when Kochi’s civil society has been campaigning to convert the old railway station into a suburban railway station, Union Minister K V Thomas has come out with a statement that the scope for converting it into a passenger station would be considered.
He has put out this as a new interesting proposal, and the move itself is suspicious,” Rajeev said at a press conference here.
He said that the proposal to set up a small local station with commercial establishments and with private participation would be resisted with a massive public movement. He said that the old railway station should be given the heritage tag since Gandhiji disembarked there.
