NUHM to help healthcare institutions in municipal areas
Kochi: As part of introducing the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) in the State, a technical resource group headed by Harsh Mander visited the City Corporation on Friday. During the visit, the team interacted with various levels of stakeholders in the corporation.
The NUHM will help to boost functioning of healthcare institutions from PHCs to medical colleges in the corporation areas. In the state, NUHM projects will be implemented in five corporations and six selected municipalities, in the first phase.
The Union government is implementing NUHM as a part of the mission of NRHM for which budget allocation has been made. The states have been asked to submit project proposals to be considered under the Mission.
Mayor Tony Chammany, deputy Mayor B. Bhadra, health committee chairman T.K Ashraf , education committee chairman R. Thyagarajan, welfare committee chairperson Essy Joseph, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) director M. Beena, director of Health Services Dr. P.K Jameela and other officials held discussions with the resource team.
The team also visited various healthcare institutions and colonies to primarily assess the situation. The visit will continue on Saturday.
