Bombing on flat: Suspect gives up

Suspected gangster surrenders before the Madurai Court.

Kochi: A suspected gangster, who has been under the police radar in connection with the bombing incident at an apartment near Deshabhimani Junction, surrendered before the Madurai Court on Friday afternoon in another case registered against him by the Tamil Nadu police. The man, identified as Sam of North Paravur, is believed to be an aide of Maradu Aneesh.

A top police officer in Kochi city said, “We have been looking for him. We knew that he was in Tamil Nadu. He surrendered before the Madurai court and is in a local jail there now. We will approach the concerned court regarding the bombing case and seek his custody.”

The police is set to question him to collect details about the other goon who was with him when they arrived on Kollamparambil Lane near Deshabhimani Junction on a motorbike and threw two bombs at Revathy Court Apartment. “He needs to be questioned to gather details about the other goon who was involved in the bombing incident,” the police officer said.

However it was a disgrace for the Kochi city police as they failed to nab the suspected goon even a week after the incident. The surrender has also come as an insult for the special investigation team that consists of an assistant commissioner and three sub inspectors.

The bombing at the apartment was believed to be a follow up of the rivalry between the gangs of Maradu Aneesh and Bhai Nazeer that fought on the verandah of the Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate ten days back.
