Bhushan to address AAP meet in Thiruvananthapuram

Aam Aadmi Party to hold series of public meetings in Kerala starting today.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Aam Aadmi Party will hold a public meeting here on Saturday, the first of a series of major meetings planned in the state after the party’s stunning victory in the recent Assembly elections in Delhi.

National committee member and senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan will address the meeting to be attended by party workers drawn from all 14 districts and also people from various walks of life. Poet Sugathakumari will be the guest at the meeting which will be held at the Sathyan Memorial Hall at 3 pm.

The meeting will discuss various issues confronting the state and also devise the party strategy to expand its base by enrolling fresh members into the party fold. Bhushan is expected to outline the party’s plan for the Lok Sabha elections next year.

During his two-day stay in the state capital, Bhushan will call on Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan. A section of AAP leaders has already stated that their doors are open for a leader like Achuthanandan if he decides to quit the CPM.

They believe that there are many common issues on which AAP and VS can come together. Even the Opposition Leader had showered praise on Arvind Kejriwal for handing out a humiliating defeat to the Congress in Delhi. But those close to Achuthanandan say the chances of the veteran leader moving out of the CPM are remote.

With the central committee also keeping the disciplinary action demanded against him by the state committee on the backburner at least till the Lok Sabha polls in 2014, there is no immediate provocation for him to take any drastic step.
