YSRC?shuts door on JC Diwakar Reddy
Hyderabad: YSRC president Jagan Mohan Reddy has shut the doors on former minister and senior Congress MLA J.C. Diwakar Reddy within 24 hours of the latter stating that he had received invitations from both the Telugu Desam and the YSRC.
On Thursday, Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that Sarojamma, daughter-in-law of TD leader Peram Nagi Reddy, who had joined YSRC two days back, as the party’s candidate for the Tadipatri Assembly constituency in Anantapur district, the same constituency represented by Diwakar Reddy.
By announcing a candidate for the Tadipatri Assembly seat, Jagan Mohan Reddy sent a clear signal that there was no place for Diwakar Reddy in his party.
According to sources, when Diwakar Reddy’s issue came up for discussion Jagan Mohan Reddy reportedly said, “We did a mistake in Dadi Veerabhadra Rao’s case. I don’t want to repeat the same in the Diwakar Reddy issue”.
Former TD leader Dadi had criticised Jagan and his father, late Chief Minister Rajasekhar Reddy before joining the YSRC. Similarly Diwakar Reddy had also criticised Jagan and YSR in the past. YSRC sources, however, said that its president may not object to Diwakar’s son Pavan Reddy joining YSRC. He may be given the Anantapur Lok Sabha ticket.
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary and state Congress affairs in-charge Digvijay Singh, speaking to the media in New Delhi on Thursday said that they had issued a show-cause notice to Diwakar Reddy and were waiting for his reply to take action. Diwakar, however, said on Thursday that he had not received any notice from the party.
