Jaya’s welfare boost to film workers

The chief minister has al­located Rs 11.49 lakh for various welfare schemes for the film industry wo­rkers.

Chennai: The chief minister has al­located Rs 11.49 lakh for various welfare schemes for the film industry wo­rkers. This move is exp­ected to benefit over 300 film technicians and ot­her workers in the industry, a government release said.

Announcing the welfa­re scheme during the third meeting of the Ci­ne Welfare Board held at the MGR Government Film and Television Tra­ining Institute in Tara­mani, information minister K.T. Rajendra Bal­aji said that the chief minister had also allocated Rs 3.69 crore tow­ards constructing a new buil­ding for Animation and Visual Effects Depa­rtment introduced at the Institute recently.

“The government has also sanctioned Rs 99 lakh for renovating the existing film screening halls in the campus,” a release said. The state government has also allocated '61 crore for constructing a Fine Arts Audit­orium at the Omandurar Government Estate, the release added.
